1989-04-19 Munich, Germany/ Live is Life / Leben ist Leben / Viver é Vida / Vivir es Vida

When we all get the power-
we all give the best –
every minute of an hour –
don’t think about the rest –
and you all get the power –
you all get the best –
and everone gives everything –
and every song everybody sings –
Repeat And we all feel the power –

And you call when it’s over
You call it should last
Every minute of the future
is a memory of the past
Cause we all gave the power
We all gave the best
And everyone gave everything
And every song everybody sang

Warm ups are rarely fascinating but those who took their seat early in Munich’s Olympiastadion were in for a treat.

On 19 April 1989, during the warm up in Munich before the UEFA Cup semi final return between Bayern Munich and S.S.C. Napoli, Maradona did a ‘Keepie-Uppie’ exhibition while the song ‘Live is Life’ was heard on the loudspeakers.

Almost certainly coked up (Maradona allegedly began using cocaine in Barcelona in 1983), he performs the most mesmeric ‘Keepy-Uppy’ exhibition on film, clapping, singing, swerving and jigging along to the Austrian pop rock group’s signature song. This has become a classic among football fans.

There were 70,000 people in the stadium and Maradona went on the field. We’re on the other side of the field, warming up like Germans: seriously, focused. There’s music playing, the song ‘Live is Life’, and to the rhythm of the song Maradona started juggling the ball. So we stopped our warm-up. What’s this guy doing? He’s juggling off his shoulders. And we couldn’t warm up anymore because we had to watch this guy.

Get more action. If you can not think your way into finding your life purpose, you have to do your way into it.

Take a mental note from Nike and ‘Just Do It’. The more you act, the more you get clear on things.

So instead of overthinking it, start taking steps toward your goals and start trying things. This will help you get out of your own way.

The experience is the reward; clarity comes through the process of exploring. Action is where you get results.

Drop from your head to your heart. Your heart is your best tool to access your true purpose and passion. Ask yourself what you love? Start taking steps to do what you love.

When you are inspired and connected to your happy Self, inspiration floods your heart and soul. When you lead from your heart, you are naturally more joyful and motivated to explore.

By doing what you love, you will be inspired and gain insights into what brings you the most joy.

Break up with the ‘One’. Many of us struggle because we try to find that One thing that we are meant to do; but trying to find only one thing is the reason why we feel like something is missing.

The notion that we have only One thing we are meant for limits us from fulfilling our greatness. Start getting in touch with your passions! When you lead a passionate life you are living your life on purpose.

Let go of thinking there is only one purpose for you and embrace the idea that our purpose in life is to love life fully!

This means you jump in and try things; you stop resisting the unknown and you fully engage in what is happening right here, where you are.

To lead a purposeful life, follow your passions.
