Maybe I had an agreement with the hospital security with respect to my bed, the stone bench next to the entrance. Maybe I was just wrong about the rental time because the security woke me up at 04:30 hours in the morning and asked me to leave. Maybe he wanted me to walk to the main square at the church and maybe he wanted me to continue my sleep on the bench under the huge old tree until 09:30 hours. Maybe he knew that the bench at the hospital would be exposed to the sun and would wake me up quiet early.

The bench at the main square had shade all morning; the birds were singing their harmonic music and the local population was respectful and quiet, very quiet. Maybe he knew all that or maybe he just did not like me.
My daily routine, my daily obligation, my daily necessity was to always find a plug to recharge the battery for the camera first. The battery did not last a full day anymore and I had to squeeze the sightseeing into the 3 to 4 hours that the battery supplied energy. I found a plug at a closed mobile snack stand at the entrance to the marina and to a small beach.
I had a comfortable place right opposite and sat down with some of the local fishermen and silently watched the street and the beach. I had a drink from the beach bar and a bicycle driver delivered my breakfast, a Colombian potato. The village did not have beaches really; the sea basically hit the promenade and left only very few, very small areas with a bit of sand.

Tolú was a famous beach village in the region, not for its beaches but for being the only starting point for tours to numerous islands off the coast and in particular to the most famous island, the island of Rosario with its fine white sand beaches and its extensive coral reefs. The battery was full and I walked the beach promenade, back and forth, walked to the main square and the church, the football pitch and had a look at the shops.

I had done all the sightseeing in about 1 hour. I still wanted to take a picture of my bench at the hospital and walked to the entrance of the village. Done. I had become hungry and walked to the snack stand at the gas station where I have had a Colombian potato already yesterday when I arrived. Done.

While I was still talking to one of the bus drivers I had the idea to just give it a try and held my thumb up. I could still see the smile in the faces of the bus driver and all the others at the snack stand when within seconds the first car stopped. The Captain of the Marines was very religious and asked me straight away about my belief in Jesus Christ. Before I could answer he made it very, very clear that Jesus Christ was the authority in his life, was his belief and was his savior. I was very happy for him to have found his belief and his way in life and I was very happy for me to have found a lift in an air-conditioned car and the way to his camp. I liked Tolú and would have stayed another night but Jesus Christ had a different way for me.

I waited for about an hour before a small truck stopped and invited me to the driver cabin but I suggested climbing up onto the empty, open back. We still had to deliver 200 eggs, some here and some there. The drive was comfortable, scenic and windy, another kind of air-condition. We arrived in Lorica, it was late, the sun was about to set and I was sure that it was too late for another lift.
I kept waiting on the bridge until the last minute and just before the sun touched the horizon I entered the air-conditioned bus and paid 8000 Pesos to the terminal of Monteria. The bus terminal was extremely well organized, extremely big and extremely busy but had only 2 recharge stations with 2 plugs each. I had to wait a bit but finally connected and worked for 2 hours before I chose my personal blue bench out of the nearly 200 still available.

For a small understanding of the days travel, I have included a Google Earth map. The red pins mark the locations I have stopped and taken pictures. At the bottom of the page you will find a link for all the pictures I have taken. The link will open in a Google+ Album.
