I had silently changed picking up my baby Matilda from every fortnight to almost every week, which was perfect but which also meant that I had to spend more and more time in Natal at the house of my friend Sergio and less and less time in Caraubas at my small beach house. Every day of the weekend, we spent some time at the Iate Clube to look after pending matters of my sailing boat and enjoy the infrastructure the club offered for children; the swimming pool, the trampoline and the playground.

Payments were not coming in and I had to resolve matters at my house bank now every week. The pressure was on my bank account and the pressure was now on me to earn some money to substitute the lack of payments from my ex business partner(s). I did not receive my monthly payments in full and not on time, I did not receive outstanding commission payments from a client, I did not receive outstanding administration payments from another client and I did not receive success fee payments from the ongoing businesses in Sao Paulo.
I had to save my ass myself now, enforce the sale of my sailing boat; enforce the sale of 3 plots that I had in the city of Paranmirim. I had to close a deal with my Spanish developer client, close a deal with my partners who were developing a project for solar energy or simply find an adequate job in one of the few surviving development or construction companies who might need an international multilingual consultant.

I had decided to spend the afternoon at the ‘Cidade das Crianças’ for my baby Matilda to play in a different and new environment and maybe meet new friends and that was actually what happened. We met Laurent from Switzerland and his 2 daughters and spent the next 2 hours together waiting for the Olympic torch to arrive. The Olympic torch had arrived in Brazil and was now carried throughout the country and today through Natal and the final destination was the ‘Cidade das Crianças’.
