Porn is linked to a host of social ills including depression, addiction, deviance, violence and human trafficking.

And if it is true that so many people today affirm porn and use it regularly, then our culture is facing a crisis.

Like so many other vices, people turn to pornography to relax and relieve stress.

But research links porn to mental health outcomes, depressive symptoms, including low self-worth and loneliness, relationship insecurities, body-image issues and anxiety in connection to their habit.

Unlike alcohol, tobacco or other addictive drugs, pornography is not a physical substance – its power is a passing image, video or idea.

Brain scans reveal that its effect on users is identical to a heroin or cocaine hit.

It hijacks the brain’s reward system and you keep going back for more.

Porn leads to less sex, and less satisfying sex. You are more critical of your partner’s body and less interested in actual sex.

Having viewed porn, men and women are less happy with their partner’s sexual performance.

Due to the constant variety and excitement of porn you can no longer perform without it.

Porn is scientifically proven to make someone a bad lover in almost every conceivable way.

Twenty years ago, if you mention the word ‘Porn’, you might have been perceived as weird or crazy.

Today, with the widespread accessibility of the internet and the pornification of mass media, porn is no longer a taboo.

In fact, now, it is completely normalized, and you are weird or crazy if you do not have a porn habit.

Porn is the norm.

In 2017, Pornhub got 28.5 billion visits. That is almost 1,000 visits a second, or 78.1 million a day – way more than the population of the entire UK.

That number has since jumped to 33.5 billion site visits in 2018.

In 2016, 91,980,225,000 videos were watched on Pornhub. In 2018, that number jumped to more than 109,012,068,000. That is over 14 videos watched for every person on the entire planet.

More than 5,517,748,800 hours of porn were watched on the site in just 2018. That is equal to 629,880 years of content consumed in 1 year, on one porn site.

90% of children aged 8 – 16 have seen porn online. The average age of a child’s first exposure to porn is around 11 years old.

Children under the age of 10 now account for 22% of online porn consumption among the under 18 age.
