Eyes are the mirror of the Soul / Augen sind der Spiegel der Seele / Os olhos são o espelho da Alma / Los ojos son el espejo del Alma

You can tell a true smile from a fake smile by looking at a person’s eyes. The mouth shape of a smile is easy to fake – you do it all the time out of politeness.

But the eyes are the giveaway: When you are truly happy, you not only smile but also your eyes sparkle. When you fake a smile, you forget about your eyes.

If the eye is the window to the soul, the pupil is an opening into the eye. The pupil acts like the aperture on a camera, dilating or contracting to regulate the amount of light coming in.

Our pupils get smaller in the light and bigger in the dark. This is the pupillary light response. The size of the pupils tell us about your emotions and intentions. Pupil size is not under your control.

Sight is not just a physical process. It is a multidimensional function that affects and is affected by your emotional and mental state and is linked to your personality.

That is to say, that each type of dysfunction is related to a certain type of personality. The different visual disorders have been identified with excessive tension in certain extra-ocular muscles and with certain emotional patterns.

The extra-ocular muscles make the eyeballs lengthen or shorten, depending on what you look at, what you think or feel. Excessive tension on these muscles creates a state of presbyopia.

The emotional tension can be experienced as repressed anger, or anger towards one’s Self (guilt), or as a feeling that, in some way, the person is not as important as the others.

Unequal stresses on different muscles creates a state of astigmatism, a distortion of the vision, irregularly compressing the eyeball in different directions, deforming it.

The individual experiences this as a feeling of being lost, or confused about their values, with what they really want and feel.

Since vision is a metaphor for the way you see the World, and concerns the personality, it is possible to get rid of them and restore vision.

When you get rid of the excessive tensions in your Consciousness, then those disappear from the inside of the muscles of the eyes, the eyeball returns to its natural form and the clear vision returns.

The eyes are the mirror of the soul and reflect everything that seems to be hidden; and like a mirror, they also reflect the person looking into them. – Paulo Coelho
